The Oblako bowl is available in different colorways. A distinction is made between the Unglazed, Glazed and Mono models. There is a wide range of colors, so that you can always find a suitable color for the different sleeves of the hookah, for example.
The Oblako Glazed are characterized by the fact that they are glazed on the upper half of the bowl. Thus, the area where the tobacco is placed is also glazed and the absorption of the flavors into the bowl is made more difficult. Among the most famous models of the Glazed series are the Oblako Dragon, the Oblako Marble Black, the Oblako Blue Eye and the Oblako Black Cosmos. In addition, the bowl is available in many other colors. Among them also variants in black, blue, pink, orange or if you want it a little special, also in rosé gold!
The Unglazed variants are, as the name suggests bowls, which consist only of clay, which has not been coated again with a glaze. The Unglazed variants have the disadvantage that the molasses of the tobacco is absorbed very quickly into the phunnel and the bowl takes on a flavor of its own. Finally, there are the Oblako Mono models, which are characterized by the fact that they are completely glazed. In this case, the area of the deposit is always glazed black or white. The outer glaze of the hookah bowl always consists of only one color. Among the mono models, the Oblako Mono Black is the most popular variant. But also the Oblako Mono Light Blue or the Oblako Mono Sand variants are very common.
Besides the color differences between Oblako models, you also have functional differences. Especially when it comes to avoid the "bleeding" of the hookah bowl or at least ensure that this effect does not occur so quickly.
To understand which oblaco takes the longest to start bleeding, you need to understand what causes the effect.
In the glaze, the heat of the coals creates microcracks over time, through which the liquid from the tobacco can penetrate into the bowl. The clay inside the head then soaks up with it until it eventually bleeds and the molasses leaks out on the outside. This bleeding of the bowl is not pretty, but there is no need to worry. The taste of your tobacco will not be affected by this.
In addition, the Oblako Mono is a tip from us, as bleeding occurs later here than with the other models.
Oblako basically offers hookahphunnel and multi-hole bowls. However, the most famous models from the brand are the phunnel. In this model, in addition to the previously described colors, there are also different sizes.
The main distinction is between the Oblako Phunnel M
and the Oblako Phunnel L. Here, many hookah smokers ask themselves where the
difference between the bowls is. Should you buy the Oblako M Phunnel or the
Oblako L Phunnel?
We give a clear answer here: If you attach a lot of
importance to a low tobacco consumption, you often smoke alone at a hookah or a
session should last 60-90 minutes, we recommend the Oblako Phunnel M. However,
if you often smoke with friends at the same hookah or you like to smoke long
sessions that are sometimes beyond 90 minutes, then we recommend the Oblako
Phunnel L. Here you even have the possibility to add new hookah charcoal to
tickle the last spark of flavor out of the hookah tobacco.
The different sizes of tobacco bowls are almost always
available in the same colors. There are only a few exceptions, such as the
Oblako x Doosha bowl, which is only available in the Phunnel M size.
Besides the classic Oblako Phunnel, there is also the
Oblako Flow Phunnel model, which has brought back the Phunnel Mod system. This
is to ensure that the hot air is drawn completely through the tobacco and not
directly past the tobacco into the hole of the phunnel. Thus, it is ensured
that the flavors are released to a maximum.
The attachments that are usually used for Oblako Phunnel are Heat Management Devices (HMDs), also called hookah smokebox. These usually have a diameter of 75mm. This is exactly the diameter of an Oblako bowl, ensuring a secure fit. The most popular smokeboxes are the ONMO HMD, the Kaloud Lotus or the AO 912 HMD. These all fit perfectly on all models of Oblako. No matter if M, L or Flow! It is also possible to smoke the bowls with hookah aluminum foil. Smoking with a chimney attachment, however, works less well. In general, we recommend everyone a HMD setup on the Oblako models.
When it comes to looks, the Hookain LitLip models are definitely an alternative to the Oblako models. These are also available in a half-glazed and a fully glazed version. In terms of smoking performance, however, there is little difference between the two hookah bowls. Both are recommended for beginners as well as for advanced smokers. Here we advise everyone to decide according to their own taste!
Also an alternative for beginner-friendly phunnels are the Werkbund heads. In contrast to the Hookain LitLip, these have a significantly different design than the Oblako, but are similar in handling.
There is currently no real alternative to the Flow model.
