The Moze Varity Squad as a 4-connection hookah
Four-hose hookahs are made by plenty of manufacturers, and many models look alike. With the Moze Varity we built a hookah that you put together yourself. Thanks to the modular system it becomes a small or a large hookah, and you can choose between several blowoff versions. When picking yours, go for the Squad version, those are the models with four connections.
Good to know: when you smoke your Moze Varity Squad on your own, take the ball out of the connection you are drawing from and close the other three with the rubber plugs included. That way you also get the blowoff effects on a hookah with four connections.

What speaks for four connections
The biggest advantage is flexibility. Four of you smoke at the same time without passing the hose around, and on your own it works just as well. In terms of smoking behaviour, a well-built 4-hose hookah sits close to a 1-hose hookah, and in everyday use you hardly notice a difference. So you get two hookahs in one.
What to plan for
The valve balls in the connections cost a little draw. On a well-constructed multi-hose hookah that stays minor, because the connections are built wide enough.
The second point is the session itself. When four people are drawing, the charcoal gets fresh oxygen with every pull and burns down sooner, and the tobacco gives up its flavour faster. On top of that the risk of burning the tobacco goes up, because a lot of heat reaches the bowl in a short time.
Tips for a session with several hoses
When buying, look for wide hose connections, then the draw stays easy even with the valve balls fitted. We check exactly that on the models in our online shop before they go into the range.
To keep the session flavourful for a long time, a quality hookah bowl combined with a smoke box pays off. Good matches for four connections are the Oblako bowls in size L, the Sheeshaya Hyphen and the Moze bowls.
When three or four connections are in use, it is best if only one or two people draw at a time. Then the bowl does not overheat, the draw stays easy and the flavour stays intense.

Buying a 4-connection hookah as a set
You can also get your hookah with four connections as a set. Alongside the hookah it holds a package of accessories, so hoses, a bowl and the small parts you need for smoking. FAQ: hookahs with 4 hose connections
Is a hookah with 4 hose connections more complicated to handle?
Not really, it works like a hookah with one connection. What matters is that every connection has a check valve or a ball in it. Without one you draw air through the other hoses instead of smoke from the bowl.
Is there a 4-hose hookah with a blowoff?
Yes. On models like the Moze Varity you even get several blowoffs. You take a ball out of one connection and hold the other hoses closed so the smoke stays where it belongs.
If several people are smoking the same hookah, better leave the blowoff out for hygiene reasons. Purging pushes your breath into the pipe, and the others inhale it afterwards.
Also remember to keep the connection without a ball closed while smoking. Otherwise the others draw air through your hose.
Can all four hoses be used at once?
Yes, as long as the hookah is built for it. Whoever draws hardest gets the biggest share of the smoke.
If several people draw hard at the same time, the bowl can overheat and the tobacco can burn. With traditional bowls, tobacco sometimes even gets pulled down the smoke column into the glasses. Taking turns gives the best result here.
How do you clean and look after a hookah with 4 connections?
Almost the same as a hookah with one hose, it just takes a bit longer because there are several hoses, mouthpieces and connections.

Is the higher price for several connections justified?
A hookah with several connections is built with more effort and needs more material. Our Moze Varity comes as a one-connection and a four-connection version, with roughly 25 euros between them. If you often smoke in a group, that difference pays for itself quickly.
Does a hookah with 4 connections need more space?
For storage hardly, only the extra hoses and mouthpieces need somewhere to go.
During the session it does take up more room on the table, because the hoses run in four directions. Plan for a bit of space, especially when several people are sitting around it.
Which glasses fit a 4-hose hookah?
That depends on the model. Many glasses are standardised and fit various hookahs, you only need to check the thread or the push-fit system.
The Moze Varity comes with a threaded glass. With the smoke column set you also get a push-fit adapter, so your favourite push-fit glass works too. The downstem can be split, which makes large and small glasses work.
Can a hookah with 4 connections be smoked with fewer people?
Yes, and without any conversion. The Moze Varity comes with silicone plugs for closing the connections you are not using. That makes it work just as well alone, with two or with three people.
