Small hookahs and water pipes
Small hookahs play to their strength wherever space is tight: on a side table, on a desk or in a smaller room. We call every model up to a height of 40 cm small. The size fits if you want a space-saving hookah for home and still expect a full session.
For gaming or in a home office, compact models are especially popular, because they can sit next to the monitor without blocking the view. If you are looking for a flat hookah, that is usually what you mean: little height, so nothing gets in the way.

Small hookahs are practical to handle and give your setup a tidy look. They fit on small tables and into narrow corners without getting in the way. If you relax on the couch while streaming, or want the hookah next to you while gaming or working, the compact build is the better choice.
What are the advantages of small hookahs?
The biggest advantage is cleaning. Because all the parts fit in the sink, you are done faster than with large models. Setting up is easier too, since the low height takes neither your view nor your space.

The difference between small hookahs and mini hookahs
When we say small hookahs, we mean compact models for use at home. In numbers, ours sit between roughly 37 and 40 cm, so a hookah at 40 cm is the typical example of this category.
Mini and travel hookahs start well below that and are built differently, because they are made for the road. If you are searching for a mini hookah at 10 cm, those are the models you end up with. We do not go quite that small, our smallest is the AMOTION Roam at around 15 cm. For trips, the park or the lake you reach for those, for a fixed spot in the room you take a small hookah.
Are there drawbacks to small hookahs?
Not functionally. Diffuser, blowoff and the materials are the same as on bigger models. The difference is the distance the smoke covers from the bowl to you. Because that path is shorter, the smoke tends to feel a little denser. In practice you hardly notice it, and with the right setup a small hookah gives you just as much as a large one.
Small hookahs in stainless steel
On small hookahs, stainless steel is the material you can least go wrong with. It does not rust and it wipes clean after the session. Aluminium is cheaper, but picks up scratches and discolouration faster. The full range sits in the stainless steel hookah category. Three models in particular combine small with stainless steel.
Moze Tradi M: made entirely from polished V2A stainless steel, with no separate sleeve and no plastic on the stem. The M is the compact one of the two Tradi sizes and measures 41.5 cm without the bowl. Because the smoke column is a single piece, cleaning is quick.
Moze Moze Tradi M - Silver - Standard Glass Hookah To the product Moze Breeze Two: 40 cm tall, with smoke column and downstem in stainless steel and base and sleeve in POM. Both of those parts are available in stainless steel as well, which turns it into an all-metal hookah.
Moze Moze Breeze Two - Wavy Mint Hookah To the product Moze Breeze Pro: also 40 cm and a stainless steel hookah with an epoxy resin sleeve. The resin carries the colour, the rest of the stem is metal.

How many hose connections does a small hookah need?
Most small hookahs in our shop have one hose connection, which suits the build: a compact hookah is usually a hookah for one person. One connection also gives you the easier draw, and you can purge without closing anything off first. The full overview sits with the 1-hose hookahs.
If someone regularly smokes along, you need more of them. For a hookah with 2 connections we have the AMOTION Doppler. Its second port sits in the base, and the hose adapter with the ball for it comes as an upgrade. Small it is not, though: at 47.5 cm for the smoke column and 52 cm including the bowl it belongs with the medium-sized models.
Compact with several connections still works. Among the hookahs with 4 connections, the alite Bash Mini Squad is only 37 cm tall. If two of you smoke on it, close the other two connections with the supplied plugs.
Price differences between small and large hookahs
You might assume small hookahs are considerably cheaper, but they often sit close together. Development, design and manufacturing take a similar effort regardless of how tall the smoke column turns out. You can still save, namely through the bundles in the hookah sale, where hookah and accessories cost less together.

Hookah sizes at a glance
We distinguish between small, medium and large hookahs. Small models stay under 40 cm and fit compact setups. Above that begins the range of medium-sized hookahs, which bring more volume and still travel well. Taller again are the large hookahs.
