Buy Blackburn Hookah Tobacco Online

Blackburn originally comes from Russia and has been one of the established brands in the scene there for years. Since mid-2022, Blackburn hookah tobacco has also been exported to Germany. The flavors range from classics like apple, melon, and grape to more unusual varieties like chocolate or banana soufflé.

The base tobacco used for every Blackburn flavor is Burley tobacco. It has a higher nicotine content than Virginia tobacco, but the flavors come through stronger and more naturally because of it. Blackburn is not a tobacco to start with, so reach for a beginner hookah tobacco first. If you want to work your way up to it, mix a small share into a milder tobacco before you build a whole bowl with it.

Blackburn has a wide range of flavors on offer. So there's something for pretty much every taste, whichever flavor you pack into your hookah next.

Blackburn is a Burley tobacco with noticeably more nicotine than most other brands in our shop. If you don't have much hookah experience yet, try it mixed with a milder tobacco first instead of building a whole bowl with it straight away.

Which flavors are available for Blackburn hookah tobacco?

Blackburn can roughly be split into three groups: classic fruity hookah tobacco flavors, creamy dessert flavors, and the Shok series with sour hookah tobacco flavors. Our tins start at €18.90 for 100g, larger 200g tins start at €35.90. A 100g tin lasts for several hookah sessions, depending on how efficiently you pack your hookah bowl.

If you want to manage building two bowls from one tin, take a look at our blog post on tobacco-saving hookah bowls.

Blackburn likes to take its own path when developing new flavors and regularly works together with well-known bloggers. That's how the flavors Top Ze and Roze T came about, from a collaboration with Aljoscha, one of the biggest German hookah influencers. Several Blackburn flavors also appear on his Top 10 tobacco list (Instagram @hookaze).

Which Blackburn tobacco is the best?

In the end it's a matter of taste, but we can tell you which flavors get ordered the most. Chuper Grupper has been a favorite for years and tastes like a sweet grape lemonade. Kwi Stoner is the favorite if you're after a sweet-and-sour kiwi in smoothie form.

Kwi Stoner tastes like a sweet-and-sour kiwi smoothie and is a great choice especially in summer thanks to its refreshing note.

If you're more into creamy flavors, Nubele with its chocolate and nut note is a good place to start, especially if you want to mix Blackburn with other flavors.

Nubele brings chocolate, nut, and a creamy note, and works well as a mixing partner for fruitier Blackburn flavors like Raserry.

Either way, you can't go too wrong with Blackburn. If you already like the flavor a variety is supposed to taste like in food, chances are you'll like the tobacco version too. Blackburn's aromas are mostly very natural and authentic.

Blackburn Shok, an unusually sour experience

The Shok flavors are what our team loves most about Blackburn. These are tobaccos with a distinctly sour note that you probably haven't tasted from any other brand before. Besides Shok Anans and Shok Raserry, Shok Lemn is also part of the series. If you're into sour profiles, it's definitely worth a try.

Are all Blackburn flavors based on Burley tobacco?

Yes, as the "Black" in the name already suggests, Blackburn is based on dark Burley base tobacco. It's a bit more robust than Virginia tobacco, which makes the flavors come through more naturally and feel less artificial, especially with sweet profiles.

Burley also has noticeably more nicotine than Virginia, which is what most other brands in our shop are based on. Want to know exactly what makes the difference? Our article on Burley vs. Virginia hookah tobacco goes into more detail.

Which bowl makes Blackburn tobacco taste best?

Blackburn works best in a bowl smoked with a smokebox. In Germany, the tobacco is usually combined with a phunnel, while in Russia a traditional bowl is more common. Both bowl types work well.

If you prefer phunnels, try the Moze Epos v2, the Amotion Dot, or a Hookain phunnel made from stoneware clay, like the Hookain Popo or Low Load. If you'd rather use a traditional bowl, take a look at bowls from Cosmo, Voskurimsya, or UPG. These are widely used in Russia, Blackburn's home market, and are the most common choice there for smoking this tobacco.

We recommend a smokebox instead of aluminium foil so the heat is distributed evenly. For example, an ONMO HMD.
