Hookain made its name with tobacco. Moving into the bowl segment showed the brand can do this too.
Hookain phunnels are now among the most popular bowls out there. The models have been developed further across generations, above all on the material and the heat distribution. On top of that they come in so many versions and colours that you will almost always find something to match your hookah.

What sets Hookain bowls apart
It comes down to the firing. The clay is fired at very high temperatures, which largely closes the pores, and those pores are exactly where the molasses normally travels.
Good to know: bleeding means molasses from the tobacco soaks into the bowl and comes back out on the outside during later sessions.
On heat conduction and heat resistance the bowls are set up accordingly. The heat is stored and passed evenly to the hookah tobacco in the depot, including at the bottom. The moist tobacco then smoulders evenly instead of only on top.
Which models are stoneware quality?
Popo, Lit Lip, Lesh Lip and Low Lip. These bowls come out of a firing process that produces a particularly high density. That makes it much harder for molasses to work its way through the clay than in a normally fired bowl.
The side effect: the bowls are tough. If one drops from a small height, chances are good it survives.
Did you know: Popo and Lit Lip were the first stoneware-quality bowls that could be produced in large numbers. That is why the value for money is so good here.
What setup do you smoke a Hookain in?
Every model is a phunnel and they all take the same setup. Aluminium foil works as well as a smokebox, the dimensions suit it. With foil the dimensions barely matter anyway.

What does stoneware quality mean?
The clay is fired at very high temperature, which gives it a particularly high density. The pores that molasses normally travels through are largely closed. At Hookain that applies to Popo, Lit Lip, Lesh Lip and Low Lip.
Does a Hookain bowl bleed?
Later than a normally fired bowl, because the firing process closes most of the pores. It cannot be ruled out forever, micro cracks appear in any glaze over time.
Does Hookain make traditional bowls too?
No. Every Hookain bowl in our range is a phunnel, spread across the Lit Lip, Lesh Lip, Low Lip, Low Load and Popo lines.
What setup do you smoke a Hookain in?
