Darkside is one of the most popular brands among hookah tobacco makers that build on dark blend. Only premium Burley raw tobacco is used for Darkside, blended with fine aromas during production in Russia. That gives it flavours that stand clearly apart from classic Virginia tobacco.

Darkside Base and Core: what's the difference?
Darkside Core and Darkside Base are the brand's two lines and differ in nicotine strength. The flavour stays the same either way. The Base line was slightly milder than Core and therefore better suited to getting started with dark blend tobacco. In Russia, the home market, there are even three strengths, with Rare added on top for the highest nicotine content.
Good to know: Since October 2024, only the Core version of Darkside has been available in Germany, Base was discontinued.

Is Darkside tobacco suitable for every hookah smoker?
In general, every tobacco suits every smoker, but the first time around you should avoid packing the bowl too high. The higher the bowl, the more nicotine gets released, and that's how you get the well-known nicotine rush. This applies especially to tobacco based on Burley or dark blend, so it applies to Darkside too.
For beginners, one rule applies to every dark blend tobacco: it hits noticeably harder than Virginia tobacco. If a nicotine rush kicks in, don't let it put you off smoking altogether. Getting into dark blend tobacco like Darkside can be tough at first, but once you're used to the higher nicotine content, you won't want to smoke anything else. The flavour is far more intense and authentic than most Virginia varieties.
Which bowls suit Darkside Burley?
Any hookah bowl will work with your tobacco, but we do have a few recommendations. At tastings and trade fairs, Darkside itself mostly uses multi-hole bowls paired with a hookah smokebox, for example the Voskurimsya Mumiya or the UPG Standard.
