The Vandenberg v1 Phunnel is the bestseller of the German manufacturer Vandenberg. Since 2021, this hookah bowl is available in Germany and should not be missing in any professional hookah collection. The manufacturer of the v1 Phunnel is not a newcomer in the hookah scene, but has already gained a lot of experience in the industry with the production of the hoookah tobacco brands Babos, XRacher, Kismet and Odinson.

The Vandenberg v1 Phunnel is manufactured in a high-temperature process from materials of the highest quality. This becomes clear when you hold the phunnel in your hands for the first time. Due to the high-quality materials used in the production, the clay of the bowl is very dense and is strongly sealed by the glaze. This means that the hookah bowl does not have the problem that it starts to bleed, as is the case with many other hookah bowls, such as the popular Oblako.
Furthermore, the Vandenberg v1 bowlcomes in a wooden box with a certificate of authenticity! This is not the case with any other hookah bowls.
Another special feature, according to the manufacturer, are the glazes of the Vandenberg v1. According to Vandenberg, the matt glazes, such as graphite or gold antique, have a different performance than the shiny glazes, such as midnight blue or mirror effect. The matte versions of the Vandenberg v1 are said to not give off as much heat to the hookah tobacco, but to store it longer. This means that the shisha session can go on a little longer. The shiny versions are supposed to be able to give off a little more heat to the tobacco and thus the smoke is also supposed to be a little denser.
From our experience, however, we can say that the differences here are really minimal and that it's best to simply decide which of the phunnel you find visually most beautiful or which colour best suits your hookah setup!
The Vandenberg v1 is built similarly to any other hookah phunnel, but there is one small feature. The tobacco should first be placed normally in the tobacco deposit around the hole in the middle. Then, however, you should make sure that you leave a small gap to the outer edge of the bowl. This is clearly visible in the video by Marvin aka ShishaWG:
