If you don’t know Al Fakher, you’re either completely new to the hookah scene or have never heard of hookahs at all. The producer from the United Arab Emirates is pretty much THE big player in the international hookah market. The brand remains highly popular in the community today, especially due to its Double Apple tobacco “The Double Crunch” and its Grape Mint tobacco “Crystal Grapio.”
Due to the 25g regulation and the resulting shift to Dry Base tobacco, Al Fakher has now also started offering part of its assortment as pipe tobacco. The first product in this category is the brand’s Double Apple tobacco, “The Double Crunch.” The special feature is that Al Fakher tobacco is sold in a 500g bucket, making the Dry Base hookah pipe tobacco about half the price of comparable competitor products.
Al Fakher pipe tobacco is a flavored dry tobacco that cannot be smoked directly in a hookah. You first need to add an appropriate amount of glycerin (at least 95% purity) and mix everything thoroughly several times. Only then is the tobacco ready for smoking. However, it is recommended to let the mixture sit for one to two days to allow the full flavor to develop.
For now, the manufacturer is only releasing its most popular flavor as pipe tobacco. We can only speculate whether this first release is a test balloon to gauge the potential market for such a large quantity of tobacco. In any case, this amount of tobacco would be particularly interesting for heavy users. Whether additional flavors will follow remains to be seen—but we certainly hope so.
Currently, there is only one flavor, so the answer is: “The Double Crunch” – an absolute no-brainer.

The Double Crunch – Double Apple is one of the most beloved and traditional flavors of all time. The Double Crunch variant from Al Fakher also contains an increased nicotine dose, giving this Double Apple tobacco an extra kick when smoked.
Crystal Grapio – Grape Mint also has a long history and a broad fan base. Crystal Grapio is a worthy representative of this flavor. Every Grape Mint fan should definitely treat themselves to a bowl of this Al Fakher tobacco.
Al Fakher tobacco smokes exceptionally well in a phunnel with a smokebox, so we highly recommend this setup.
You can also smoke the Dry Base Virginia tobacco from Al Fakher in a traditional setup using a clay bowl with a chimney top. However, the flavor and smoke production will be slightly less intense.
