The Vandenberg Phunnel is manufactured by the producer of the hookah tobacco brands Kismet, XRacher, and Odinson. The hookah bowls are made in Germany using a high-temperature firing process with particularly high-quality materials. This is precisely what makes the Vandenberg Phunnel so special. Due to this manufacturing process, the material is very dense, which leads to numerous advantages that we will explain below. Since Vandenberg bowls are high-quality and handmade, each of these bowls comes with an authenticity certificate. Although the Vandenberg Phunnel is slightly more expensive than other hookah tobacco bowls, it is definitely worth the price!
As described above, the Vandenberg hookah bowls are made in Germany from high-quality materials. This makes the clay of the bowl extremely dense, preventing the molasses from the hookah tobacco from seeping into the bowl, which eliminates the issue of "bleeding" in the Vandenberg Phunnel.
Another special feature is the glazes of the Vandenberg Phunnel. According to the manufacturer, the different colors are not just for creating a unique look but are also intended to influence performance!
According to Vandenberg, the different glazes have different properties, so they do not all behave the same way when smoking. The variants with a matte glaze are said to retain heat longer and not transfer it as strongly to the hookah tobacco, which should allow the session to last longer. The Vandenberg Phunnel with a glossy or mirror-like glaze is said to transfer more heat directly, thereby allowing the hookah tobacco to heat up more intensely. From our own experience, however, we can say that these effects are not extremely different, and we therefore recommend simply choosing based on the appearance of the hookah bowl. You can decide which Vandenberg bowl best matches your hookah.
Currently, there is the Vandenberg v1 and the Vandenberg v2. The v1 is particularly good for smokers who only have one hose connection on their hookah and want to enjoy a long, flavorful hookah session. The v2 bowl has a larger tobacco chamber, allowing you to smoke a hookah alone, where you can even place a second round of hookah charcoal after the first set. Additionally, this model is ideal if you often smoke with friends and have multiple hookah hoses connected to your hookah. The flavor remains intact for the entire duration until the natural charcoal burns out!
Basically, the Vandenberg Phunnel is used like any other hookah phunnel. Due to the slightly unique shape of the tobacco chamber, there are only minor differences in bowl preparation!
As with any other phunnel, the tobacco in the Vandenberg hookah bowls is placed around the hole in the tobacco chamber. With the v1 model of the Vandenberg Phunnel, you just need to ensure that you leave a small gap at the outer edge of the chamber. The hookah content creator Marvin, aka ShishaWG, has demonstrated the bowl preparation very well in his video about the hookah bowl.
For the phunnel models from Vandenberg, all common hookah smokebox models fit.
You can use either an aluminum model, such as the popular ONMO HMD, the Kaloud Lotus, or the AO HMD Sandblasted, or a stainless steel model, such as the AO 912 HMD or the Na Grani HMD.
In addition to HMDs, you can also use hookah aluminum foil to stretch it over the phunnel and place the charcoal on top. However, a chimney accessory cannot be used on the Vandenberg bowl.

The Vandenberg Phunnel is compatible with all common smokeboxes (HMDs). A chimney accessory does not fit and is therefore not recommended. Aluminum foil can be used, but it does not do justice to this premium bowl.
