The coal plays a crucial role in the flavor of a hookah session, which is why the composition and properties of hookah coal are extremely important.
Today, refined natural coconut shell charcoal is primarily used for smoking. Coconut charcoal has near-perfect smoking properties - it's almost completely flavor-neutral, burns longer than other coals, and emits minimal smoke during combustion. These coconut shell cubes reach temperatures between 650°C - 750°C. Note: Grilling typically uses temperatures up to about 300°C. Steaks exposed to high heat come into contact with temperatures between 220°C and 300°C. When burning off a grill, temperatures often exceed 400°C.
The high temperatures of hookah coal are perfect for vaporizing the molasses in tobacco. However, they also require you to think about suitable accessories. It can easily happen that one of the glowing cubes falls off, and depending on where it lands, this can range from burn holes in your carpet to apartment fires. We therefore recommend always purchasing coal tongs.
A coal screen is also a very good investment
If your coal heater isn't located right next to your hookah, you should also consider getting a coal carrier.
