The Blaze Dark Leaf tobacco from Hookain will be familiar to anyone who has been in the hookah scene for a while. For those who are new, we’re happy to explain this robust Dark Blend in more detail. Blaze Dark Leaf comes from Hookain and is a very nicotine-rich, strong Burley tobacco that tastes relatively mild for the attributes it has. But this doesn’t mean it’s as easy to smoke as Virginia tobacco. We are still talking about a Burley blend here. However, when you look at the facts, it’s hard to believe that a hookah tobacco with a nicotine level above 4% can be smoked so smoothly.
BLAZE Dark Leaf hookah tobacco is based on a carefully selected Burley blend. According to Hookain, it was no easy task to develop a high-quality Burley blend that is both extremely strong and smooth in smoke behavior. The breakthrough came when the Cologne-based company mixed their high-quality French tobacco with glycerin and molasses and subjected it to a pressure of 250 bar. Only then could it be ensured that the flavors and glycerin penetrated the entire cell structure of the plant. This process is also known as homogenizing the tobacco.
BLAZE tobacco is based on a harmoniously balanced Burley tobacco mixture that includes all the characteristics appreciated by fans of dark tobacco. The Burley blend smokes smoothly, offering full, intense flavor along with an optimal throat kick. The flavors of the individual varieties harmonize with the leathery, earthy taste of the Burley blend, while the tobacco flavor itself remains pleasantly unobtrusive in the background.
Currently, the manufacturer Hookain offers six varieties of Burley blend. Most of the flavors are fruity, but there’s also a creamy pastry flavor in the mix, ensuring that most hookah fans will find something they like.

In principle, all of the flavors are great if you’re looking for a strong tobacco experience. If you can handle a high nicotine level, you’ll be very satisfied with all the BLAZE Dark Leaf flavors. Personally, we enjoy the Lym Hype (sour lime) for mixing, but the Preach (peach/green tea combo) also works extremely well in the bowl.
Interestingly, this is a very unfair question when it comes to Blaze tobacco. While we highly recommend the combination of Phunnel and Smokebox, a multi-hole bowl is also a very good choice for the strong dark tobacco.
Depending on the setup and heat, different flavors come to the forefront, so it’s best to test the options yourself and find out what works best for your personal taste.

If you find the tobacco too strong in the Phunnel, you can also try a multi-hole bowl. The Darkside Shot or a bowl from Cosmo Bowl with a Shot Depot are perfect for this, as you’ll use less tobacco if the flavor turns out too strong.

We are convinced of the tobacco. This is because Hookain’s tobacco is very well processed and, despite being a strong base tobacco, it smokes surprisingly smooth. However, the nicotine level is so high that we wouldn’t recommend it to beginners.
FYL is produced in Poland. This is where the manufacturer Hookain, who created the BLAZE Dark Leaf brand, is located. Most of the raw tobacco used comes from France.
In our experience, the tobacco tastes best with a setup of Phunnel and Smokebox. Specifically, we recommend models from Hookain, Moze, Amotion, or ONMO.
