The tobacco varieties from AINO have many fans in the German hookah scene. The philosophy of the Osnabrück-based producer Shanti is to put a lot of care into the development of a product before it is released to the public.
So it’s no surprise that the manufacturer also takes its time when adapting its popular Virginia blend mixtures into pipe tobacco.
AINO fans will be excited about this adaptation to pipe tobacco because now they have the opportunity to buy their favorite flavors in large 200g cans and at a good price.
According to the manufacturer, AINO tobacco is unique, and we believe there's a lot of truth to that! On one hand, the manufacturer impresses with high quality, and on the other hand, the various flavors offer intense and extraordinary taste experiences. In addition to the flavor, the Osnabrück-based tobacco also excels with excellent smoke production and heat resistance.
At the 2023 Hookah Trade Show in Frankfurt, AINO first presented its Dark Blend tobacco, which is based on a stronger Burley tobacco. Previously, only Virginia tobacco blends were used.
Since February 2024, AINO pipe tobacco has been on the market, catering to the community's desire to once again purchase large cans of hookah tobacco.
AINO pipe tobacco is a flavored dry tobacco that cannot be smoked directly in a hookah. Only by adding 90g of glycerin (at least 95% purity), carefully mixing both components multiple times, and allowing it to sit for a while does it become a moist hookah tobacco that can then be smoked in a hookah.
At launch, the manufacturer has released seven of its most popular flavors as pipe tobacco. What immediately stands out is that the newly launched flavors have different names than the ready-to-smoke versions.
Although the manufacturer has kept the flavor, the new names are a clear indication that they wanted to avoid confusion with the original product and eliminate cumbersome or confusing abbreviations that were sometimes found in Aino Dark products.
We can only speculate whether this is part of the manufacturer's ambitions to also release Aino Dark flavors as pipe tobacco. However, the new names chosen by Shanti give us a good idea of which original flavor the pipe tobacco version might have originated from.

Most of our customers find AINO Black Ice or AINO Oha to be the best, and we agree with this sentiment.
Black Ice is an intense blackberry tobacco with a cool note. This blend is also very popular among major Shisha content creators like Marvin from ShishaWG or Doelid!
AINO Oha tastes like Brazilian Guava and is, in our opinion, a very exceptional flavor. Especially if you've been smoking for a long time and are looking for something different from your favorite blends, OHA by AINO is an excellent choice!
But we also recommend all other Virginia blends from the brand. If you like the fruit or flavor listed for the tobacco, the chances are very high that you’ll enjoy the corresponding AINO tobacco because the flavors are simply incredibly well done by the producer!
AINO tobacco is designed for use with a Phunnel bowl and a Smokebox. According to the manufacturer, this setup provides the best results for the tobacco. We can also confirm this based on our own experiences.
However, the Virginia tobacco from AINO can also be smoked in a classic setup with a clay bowl and heat management device (HMD). The flavor and smoke production will be slightly less intense in this setup.

Currently, there are 21 flavors from AINO. Of these, 15 are based on Virginia tobacco, and 6 are based on Burley tobacco. According to the manufacturer, new flavors are continuously being developed!
