Sad, but true. With the rising prices of german hookah tobacco and the 25 g regulation, hookah smoking is becoming a real luxury. That's why it's hardly acceptable to scrape unused tobacco out of your bowl at the end of a hookah session.
To counter this problem, a rethink is currently taking place on the market and more and more manufacturers of hookah bowls are slowly but surely switching from the wastefully large depots of recent years to smaller and more efficient designs. We would like to introduce you to a few of these new, price-conscious "tobacco dwarfs" today.
Especially if you are familiar with a classic multi-hole bowl with a large depot, you know how much unused tobacco can still be in the bowl at the end, even though the taste has already suggested the end of the session. A good alternative are therefore bowls with a smaller depot, which have exciting names such as Shot, Killer or Low Load, because they only consume about half the amount of tobacco with an almost identical running time.
Especially when using 25 g packs, economical hookah bowls can show what they are capable of, as you can build about two bowls with them, depending on the type of tobacco.
Based on the manufacturer's specifications and reports from the hookah community, you should take a look at these bowls if you want to expand your bowl collection with some real money savers:
The Hookain Low Load is the bowl you should take a look at if you're tired of wasting tobacco. The "little flat one" from Hookain offers you maximum performance with low tobacco consumption. According to the manufacturer, the low-load hookah bowl consumes just 8 g of tobacco with a light HMD nub contact. Whether this is true or not depends, of course, on the nature of the tobacco used. In any case, the concept of the bowl is going in the right direction, considering the price development in the tobacco sector. You can find the beautiful Hookain bowl in all colorways in our Moze hookah online shop.
Everyone will have heard that some dark blend tobacco tastes better from a multi-hole bowl. And especially when it comes to Russian manufacturers, the use of a multi-hole bowl is often mandatory in order to get the best taste.
Darkside tobacco is probably one of the most popular darkblend tobaccos in the German hookah scene, so it is not surprising that the Russian producer has spared no expense in developing its own multi-hole bowl, which is economical and perfectly matched to Russian darkblend tobacco.
When ONMO presented its Alu HMD to the public, the small silver head struck a chord with the hookah community, as the design, quality and price were convincing across the board. With the launch of the Primis, ONMO is now responding to the needs of modern hookah tobacco consumers and bringing a bowl onto the market that uses little tobacco and still promises long-lasting smoking pleasure.
The bowl needs just 13 g of tobacco to perform like a "big one". The ONMO Primis is made from white stoneware clay, which has excellent heat performance.
The porcelain head Cassiopeia from Magellan is a little sensation. Porcelain is very rarely used as a material for bowls, although it is perfect for this purpose. Among other things, porcelain has exceptional insulating properties, so the Cassiopeia could withstand much higher temperatures than other bowls and both store and release them over a long period of time.
This ensures that the tobacco in the Cassiopeia dries much more evenly from all sides and it is more likely that all the tobacco can be scraped out of the bowl as a perfectly crispy cookie after a session.
This effect can also ensure that some aromas, such as menthol/cool, are emphasized more strongly than is the case with other bowls and both store and release them over a long period of time.
Another outstanding feature is that porcelain is insensitive to contamination of any kind due to its material properties. Bleeding, as we know it from other bowls, is simply not possible with porcelain. The sealed surface also ensures that this bowl is dishwasher-safe and the material does not take on any taste.
The Cassiopeia is also extremely economical. You only need 8-10 g of tobacco if you build it at a distance. On pimple or full contact, of course, you need more.
One drawback, however, is the price, which is quite high at around €50. However, the high-quality and, thanks to its hardness, very durable material and the "Handmade in Germany" seal of quality are definitely worth the price.
The multi-hole bowls from the Russian manufacturer Cosmo Bowl perform excellently and are among the absolute favorites of many hookah smokers.Cosmo Bowl comes from the heart of the Russian hookah scene. And has made it its mission to provide the best possible enjoyment of Russian tobacco varieties.
According to the manufacturer, it tested and compared almost 50 different multi-hole bowls from around the world before starting development in order to analyze their advantages and disadvantages. The findings from this comparison formed the basis for creating a bowl with perfect properties.
In the Shot variant, Cosmo Bowl is launching "Turkish Bowls" with a smaller capacity than the standard size. The killer design bowls are almost as economical.
All Cosmo Bowl bowls are made using the same milk firing process, which gives them their typical brown to black coloring and effectively prevents them from "bleeding".
No matter what brand. The idea behind reducing the tobacco depot of a bowl is absolutely right. Especially with the rising price of tobacco, it makes more sense than ever to get the maximum efficiency out of the tobacco used, and all of the bowls we have presented here do this quite well. Our personal favorite is the ONMO Primis, which gets by with little tobacco and does everything right in terms of design and price/performance. The other competitors were also very good, if not on a par, in terms of performance.
