Hookah Glass Base Guide: Everything You Need to Know About Hookah Glass Bases!

There is still a lot of confusion when it comes to glass bases, and we frequently receive questions about this topic. That's why we’ve decided to answer these questions once and for all, leaving nothing unclear!

Many of our customers often ask the same questions: "Which base fits my Breeze Two? Which one fits my Sphere 2?" Or "Which size looks good with my hookah? Mini or Large?" These are just a few of the questions we receive almost daily in customer service.

Most important: The size - Mini and Large Glass Bases

Glass bases are generally divided into large and small bases. On our website, we call the small ones "Mini" and the large ones "Large." But which base is large, and which one is small?

Since sizes are not standardized—meaning they don’t have a uniform height/size—it’s difficult to provide an exact size specification. However, a base with a height of about 26 cm ± 2 cm is considered large, while small bases are about 20 cm ± 2 cm high. Not that much of a height difference at first glance, right? But once you place a hookah stem onto the hookah, you’ll notice how even a few centimeters can significantly impact the overall look of the setup. There are only a few hookahs where both glass base sizes look aesthetically pleasing. One example of a hookah that fits both sizes well is the AMOTION FUTR.

A quick note regarding this rule: It doesn’t mean that another base won’t work. Whether a particular base fits a certain model ultimately depends on the downstem. A large hookah stem with a short downstem can also work with a small base, just as a small hookah can work if it has a long downstem. However, these combinations often don’t look very aesthetically pleasing.

Does my hookah fit into any glass base?

Glass bases typically have an inner diameter of 45 mm ± 2 mm. There are only a few exceptions, as some manufacturers have decided to develop unique sizes for certain models. However, this mainly disadvantages the customer, as it forces them to buy replacement bases only from the same manufacturer if the standard base gets damaged. For this reason, all Moze and AMOTION models are designed to be customer-friendly and fit 45 mm glass bases.

Since all bases are handmade, there can sometimes be slight variations in the opening diameter. If your hookah doesn’t fit into a base or sits too loosely, there are a few things you can try.

Case 1: The hookah stem is difficult to insert into the base

If your base doesn’t easily fit into the glass base, follow these steps. These solutions work in most cases:

• Moisten the gasket and the inside of the base opening.
• Twist the hookah stem into the base while inserting it. Twisting helps prevent the gasket from shifting.
• If it still doesn’t fit, try trimming a small portion of the gasket and attempt again.

Case 2: The hookah stem sits too loosely in the base

Just as a base can sometimes be too tight, it can also be too loose! This can happen due to slight variations in the opening diameter. That’s why all Moze hookah models include two different-sized gaskets in the package.

If the pre-installed gasket doesn’t fit, simply try the second one. If neither fits (which is rare), feel free to contact us via email or WhatsApp!

If you experience this issue with other hookah brands and don’t have a second gasket, the following tips might help:

• A cheaper alternative: Wrap some tape around the base of your hookah stem and then place the gasket back on. However, this solution isn’t very aesthetically pleasing.

Standard Bases vs. Caesar Bases: What are the differences?
