When it comes to plug-in glasses there is still a lot of confusion, and we keep getting questions about it. For this reason we decided to answer these questions once and for all and to leave nothing open!
Many of our customers often asked themselves the same things: “Which glass fits my Breeze Two? Which one fits my Sphere 2?” Or: “Which size looks good on my pipe, mini or large?” These are just some of the questions that reach our customer service almost daily.
Most important: the size (mini and large plug-in glasses)
With plug-in glasses a distinction is usually made between large and small glasses. On our site we call the small ones “Mini” and the large ones “Large”. But which glass is large and which one is small?
Since the sizes are not standardised, meaning not uniform in height or size, it is difficult to give an exact size. However, at a height of about 26 cm ± 2 cm you can speak of a large glass. Small glasses, on the other hand, are about 20 cm ± 2 cm tall. Not that much difference in height at first glance, right? But once you put a hookah smoke column onto the hookah, you realise just how much a difference of a few centimetres can affect the overall look. There are only a few hookahs on which both plug-in glass sizes look good. One example of a hookah on which both sizes still work is the AMOTION FUTR.
Rule of thumb for buying a glass: For models up to about 45 cm in size including the standard hookah plug-in glass (e.g. Breeze Two size), you can safely go for any small plug-in glass. For all other models larger than 45 cm, it is usually better to buy a large plug-in glass.
A little side note on the rule of thumb: it does not mean that another glass is not possible. Which glass fits which model ultimately depends above all on the downstem. A large smoke column with a short downstem can also work on a small glass. The same goes for a small hookah if it has a long downstem. However, these combinations often do not look very good.
Does my hookah fit in every plug-in glass?
Plug-in glasses all have an inner diameter of 45 mm ± 2 mm. There are only a few exceptions here, as some manufacturers thought it made sense to develop their own size for certain models. However, this only has disadvantages for the customer and probably only serves to make them buy a replacement glass directly from the same manufacturer if the standard glass gets damaged. For exactly this reason all Moze and AMOTION models are designed customer-friendly for 45 mm plug-in glasses.
But since all glasses are handmade, small differences in the diameter of the glass opening can occur now and then. If it happens that your pipe cannot be inserted into a glass or sits too wobbly in it, there are a few things you can do.
Case 1: The hookah's smoke column can only be inserted into the glass with difficulty
If your base cannot be inserted easily into the glass, you can follow these steps. In most cases they already solve the problem!
- Moisten the grommet and the inside of the glass opening.
- “Twist” the hookah smoke column into the glass. By twisting you prevent the grommet from slipping.
- If it still does not fit, you can cut off a part of the grommet and try again.
Case 2: The hookah's smoke column sits too loosely in the glass
Just as the hookah glass can sometimes be a little too tight, it can also be a little too wide! This can happen due to the slight tolerances in the diameter of the glass opening. For this reason all Moze hookah models also include two grommets of different widths.
So if the pre-mounted grommet does not fit, simply try the second grommet. If that one should not fit either (which does not really happen), you can always write to us by email or WhatsApp!
However, if you have this problem with other plug-in hookahs and do not have a second grommet at hand, the following tips can help:
- The Moze Perfect Fit grommet set can help you out: this set contains a wider or thicker grommet and a standard grommet. By the way, these grommets are available in different colours, so you can also match the grommet to your hookah. The wider grommet should fit in these cases.
- There is also a cheaper alternative: you can wrap tape around the base of your plug-in pipe and then put the grommet back on. However, this often does not look that nice.
Standard glasses vs. Caesar glasses: where are the differences?
If you are still new to the hookah scene, you are surely wondering: “Why on earth do these beautiful Caesar glasses cost so much money? What are the differences to the standard glasses?” The reason for that is relatively simple: the Caesar glasses are made of a significantly higher-quality glass material (24% lead crystal glass) and are handmade.
The production of these glasses takes an enormously long time and requires many production steps. The result, however, is beautiful glasses that clearly stand out from the standard models. Once you have held such a glass in your hands, you can understand why such a price is charged for these models.
Are you looking for something between a standard glass and a Caesar glass?
Unfortunately there is not really anything here. There is only the standard quality and the very high quality from Caesar. We have already tried various manufacturers and attempted to find a middle ground between these two levels, but without success. However, the somewhat more unusual shapes of the standard glasses, such as the Neo Lux or the Mini Drop models, might be something for you. These are in standard quality but look a bit more special!

Which size should my plug-in glass be?
For hookahs up to about 45 cm in total height, smaller plug-in glasses are usually suitable. For larger hookahs, large glasses are generally used. The difference in height is on average about 6 cm.
Does every hookah fit in every plug-in glass?
In principle, hookahs with a base diameter of around 45 mm fit into most plug-in glasses. Since glasses are often handmade, there can be slight differences in the neck diameter. These can usually be balanced out with suitable grommets.
What to do if the smoke column fits into the glass with difficulty or sits too loosely?
If the base only fits into the glass with difficulty, it often helps to moisten the grommet slightly. If the connection sits too loosely, a thicker grommet can help. The Moze Perfect Fit grommet set contains different sizes so you can choose the right variant.
What is the difference between standard glasses and Caesar glasses?
Caesar glasses are made of high-quality lead crystal glass and are produced in a particularly elaborate way. As a result they look more high-quality, reflect light more intensely and often have more elaborate cuts than classic standard glasses.
Is there an alternative between standard and Caesar glasses?
A classic mid-range hardly exists at the moment. However, many standard glasses now offer unusual shapes and modern designs that look considerably more high-quality than simple standard models.
