Aino doesn't do things halfway. The philosophy of the Osnabrück-based producer Shanti is to put a lot of care into the development of a product before it reaches the public. That's why it's no surprise that adapting the popular Virginia blend mixtures to Dark Blend took almost three years before it was first introduced to consumers. According to the manufacturer, nearly two years were spent solely on the development of the Burley base tobacco, and you can definitely taste it. Aino's aromatic Dark Blend combines the kick of a medium nicotine level with a pleasantly smooth smoking experience. This means that even if you're used to milder tobacco, a full bowl of Aino Dark tobacco won't knock you out, but you'll definitely feel the higher nicotine level.
Aino's hookah tobacco is unique. The manufacturer impresses not only with high quality and extraordinarily intense flavor experiences, but also with excellent smoke production and heat resistance.
At the 2023 Hookah Trade Show in Frankfurt, the Aino Dark Blend tobacco series was first introduced, and it was overwhelmingly positively received by the hookah community.
Under the Dark Blend series, AINO released a whole range of new flavors perfectly matched to the new Burley base. However, the two most popular flavors, OHA and Black Ice, also received an adaptation to the Dark Blend.
Since the manufacturer wanted to authentically adapt the two original Virginia flavors to the new, stronger tobacco type, they had to undergo critical testing. They certainly didn't want to disappoint the fanbase with a lazy imitation of the original. The new Burley base required, for example, that the Ice from the Black Ice flavor had to be removed because it didn't blend well with the Dark Blend version. Therefore, the Dark version of Black Ice is now “only” an intense and authentic blackberry flavor called Aino Black, which still tastes excellent and has been very well received by our customers.

Most of our customers love the Aino Dark Great Frut and the Aino Dark Oha. Great Frut is an intense and bold grapefruit tobacco, and Dark Oha combines the intense fruitiness of Brazilian Guava with the cooling freshness of Ice. These blends are also popular among big Shisha content creators like Marvin from ShishaWG or Doelid! The Aino Dark Black Oha tobacco is, in our opinion, a very unique flavor. Especially if you've been smoking for a long time and are looking for something different from your regular favorites, OHA from Aino is a great choice! But we also highly recommend all other flavors from the brand. If you're already familiar with Aino's Virginia blends, the chances are that you'll enjoy their Dark Tobacco as well.
Aino Dark tobacco is designed for a Phunnel bowl with a Smokebox. According to the manufacturer, this setup provides the best results for the tobacco. We can also confirm this based on our own experiences.
For the Virginia tobacco of the brand, you can also smoke it in a classic setup with a clay bowl and a heat management device (HMD). The flavor and smoke production will be somewhat less intense in this setup. However, for the Burley tobacco in the Aino Dark series, we recommend avoiding the combination of clay bowl and HMD. If you want to use a different setup, we suggest a multi-hole bowl with an HMD. In such a setup, the nicotine content of the tobacco will be more noticeable, and the tobacco will feel stronger.

Currently, there are 21 flavors from AINO. Of these, 15 are based on Virginia tobacco, and 6 are based on Burley tobacco. According to the manufacturer, new flavors are continuously being developed!

AINO is made in Germany, specifically in Osnabrück! In this production facility, strict hygiene and cleanliness are maintained, and only the best ingredients are used.
Unfortunately, we can’t say exactly when new flavors will be released. However, the manufacturer always informs customers in advance through their own AINO Instagram profile!

Of course! In general, you can mix any hookah tobacco with other flavors. This also applies to AINO tobacco.
