What are for you the technical requirements of the best hookah?

First, we deal with the technical details of the hookah. By this we mean, for example, the number of hose connections or whether the hookah should have a screw or a plug connector. We will take a closer look at these details within the next questions.

How many hose connections does a good hookah need? 

Basically, it is a matter of taste how many hose connections you prefer on your hookah. In our opinion, a hookah works best with one hose connection.

Why is that? 

To achieve a good taste during your hookah session, it is essential that the hookah tobacco is heated as evenly as possible and that the temperature in the tobacco bowl does not fluctuate too much. In our experience, it is much easier to create these optimal conditions if you use a hookah with only one hose connection.

The hookah bowl and thus also the hookah tobacco is further heated by each puff on the hookah. This is due to the fact that the air drawn in heats up when it is pulled along the glowing charcoal. The supplied oxygen also provides the embers with more energy, which causes them to heat up more and more the more often and longer air is drawn. The hookah charcoal thus also transfers more heat to the tobacco via the smokebox. So, if several people pull at a hookah with several hose connections in short intervals, the heat rises faster and thus a heat shock of the tobacco occurs more quickly. In addition, each person pulls differently on a hookah, which also leads to the fact that the tobacco is heated unevenly.

However, a hookah with multiple hose connections also has a few advantages. If you share a bowl with several people, for example, you don't have to wait long until it's your turn again, and there's no more awkward handing around of the hose.

To avoid passing around the hookah hose and the waiting time, you could of course prepare a separate hookah with one hose connection for each of your friends.

So let's draw the comparison between a hookah with multiple connections and several hookahs with only one connection. With a hookah with multiple connections, it is advantageous that the cleaning effort is significantly lower. In addition, the tobacco and coal consumption is lower and thus you save some money. On the other hand, the disadvantage of only one hookah is that you have to find a tobacco that everyone can agree on, which means that not everyone in the group can smoke their favorite tobacco. On the other hand, if you have several hookahs in the group, everyone can smoke their own tobacco.

In general, all hookahs with multiple connectors can also be smoked with only one connector. So if you decide to buy a multi-hose hookah, you will have all the advantages of a single-hose hookah, including the options that multi-hose use opens up to you.

So, if you don't want to miss out on the benefits of a single-hose hookah, but still have occasional friends over for whom you don't have another hookah in the house (or you want to avoid passing the hose around), we recommend a multi-port hookah or a second hookah that you use specifically for such occasions.

Should the hookah have a screw or plug connection to the bowl?

Again, the general answer is: it's a matter of taste! We have listed some information that will help you to make a decision.

We have long considered what advantages the screw connection has over the plug-in connection. However, we are convinced that there are hardly any. Some hookah smokers are of the opinion that a glass base with a thread would make the hookah look more high-grade. This was perhaps once so, because the grommets used in plug-in hookahs usually have a very inferior quality.

At the latest with the Moze Perfect Fit seals, which you can find in different colors in the hookah seals category of our store, this is history. All models of Moze are standard equipped with the Moze Perfect Fit Grommets in black or anthracite!

The AMOTION brand also uses the Moze Perfect Fit seals for the FUTR model. Here, the colored grommets are already included in the standard scope of delivery.

Another criticism was that the hookah sits loose in the bowl. In our hookahs are always two grommits with different diameters included, one of which sits very tight. So this point of criticism is also history.

Sometimes you also hear that with screw threads is an advantage that the glass base can be worn on the smoke column. However, we strongly advise you not to do this, because it can always happen that the glue on the glass base gives way in the long run and the base, due to the heavy weight of water and glass together, loosens from the thread and thus the base falls down and breaks!

With plug-in connections, on the other hand, we noticed a few advantages right away!

The first advantage is that the hookah plug-in bases all have the same inner neck diameter. This is 45mm. Because this is always the same, the advantage is that you can always find a replacement for your hookah if you destroy your bowl. Nothing is worse than breaking your base and not getting a replacement because the base is currently not available from the manufacturer.

The next advantage that comes from the standardized diameter is that you can freely switch between your hookahs if you have multiple plug-in hookahs, so it won't get boring. So if you get bored with the look after a few months, you can simply buy a new glass and the hookah has a different appearance!

What to consider with hookah plug-in glass?

A common myth is that small hookahs produce less smoke than big hookahs. This is absolute nonsense, because how much smoke is produced in the hookah is solely dependent on the hookah bowl, the charcoal attachment and your bowl packing.

A small hookah has the advantage that you can take it much easier to friends or events. In addition, it is often easier to clean the shisha, since the individual parts are smaller and you can get into even the smallest corner with the right hookah cleaning accessories . Especially if you only have a small sink, the cleaning of large shisha is particularly difficult.

If you like to smoke a shisha while watching a series or a movie, the small shishas are also recommended. You can easily place them on the coffee table without the hookah obstructing your view. However, we also have customers who find large shishas simply more beautiful than small models.

So, in the end, the size of your hookah is really a matter of taste and you should mainly decide according to the look. In addition to the previously mentioned points, these also have no major disadvantages. So should you find a large hookah more visually appealing, then you should only have the above points in mind and be sure that these are not a problem for you.

What material is the best for hookahs? Does it have to be stainless steel?

The main parts of hookahs are made of chrome-plated steel, brass, aluminum and stainless steel. In addition, hookahs often have additional design elements, which do not come into direct contact with the smoke, but are only there for the appearance of the hookah. These design elements are made of a variety of materials: POM, epoxy resin, acrylic resin, wood, glass, ABS, carbon and many others.

Regarding the main components of the hookah, we are convinced that you should go for a stainless steel model if you want to enjoy your hookah for a long time. Why? The disadvantages of the other materials compared to stainless steel are the following: 

• In the models made of chrome-plated steel, limescale accumulates relatively quickly within a few months, whereby the threads also quickly calcify and can no longer be unscrewed! With a model made of this material, you have to put a lot of effort into cleaning the hookah so that these problems do not occur.
• Brass has the property of "tarnishing", which causes the material to become stained. For this reason, brass hookahs often need to be polished to keep them looking good. 
• Aluminum is a very soft material, making the hookah threads susceptible to warping or bending over time or with a strong shock. 

All these problems do not have stainless steel hookahs, which is why we always recommend models made of this material. For this reason, we currently offer only these, because customer satisfaction is our top priority and we believe that you will not be satisfied with any other material after a certain time!

The style: Should your hookah look rather plain or extravagant?

Are you looking for a plain hookah or are you looking for a fancier model that stands out from the crowd?

If you are looking for a simple hookah, the models with a uniform color are probably for you. In our opinion, the Moze Noir, the Moze Varity in the steel versions, and the Varity in the original black version fall into this category. Hookah blow-off: What should this look like for you?

Under the blow-off is the venting of the hookah. So the blowing off of the smoke, which is inside the bowl room. It is said that this smoke loses the taste somewhat over time, if a time is not pulled on the hookah. So to get rid of this old smoke, you can briefly blow into the hookah and thus pulls only fresh smoke directly from the bowl!

The nice side effect is that this blowing out process looks very cool, as the smoke comes out of certain parts of the hookah, creating beautiful effects.
