Why the Plot is a good place to start
Not because of the price, but because of the shape. The depot is cut flat and open, so you spread the hookah tobacco without much fiddling and do not accidentally press it too tight. That is exactly where first attempts at packing usually fail.
On top of that the depot shape is tuned to the ONMO HMD, according to the maker. If you start out with that combination, there is not much to work out on heat management at first.
Tip: pack the Plot loosely and leave a narrow strip free at the outer rim of the depot. If the tobacco reaches the edge, that is where it burns first.
Material and workmanship
The Plot is shaped by hand in Spain and given a glossy finish. The compacted white natural clay takes a lot of heat and passes it on well, so the tobacco gets evenly hot. Because the bowls are made by hand, colour and shape differ slightly from one to the next.
Which attachment fits?
The obvious one is the ONMO HMD, which the depot shape is tuned to. Every other common smokebox fits just as well, and aluminium foil works too. Thanks to the standard fit the Plot sits on practically any hookah.
