ATH Traverten: a compact phunnel from Turkey
ATH is the only bowl brand from Turkey we carry. All the other hookah bowls in the range come from Russia, Spain, Germany, Japan or France. One model is carried, the Traverten in the Havlit S glaze.
It is a handmade phunnel, made from quality clay. What stands out most is the compact build: 10 cm tall against a 7.0 cm outer diameter, slimmer than most other bowls.

Which setup does the Traverten suit?
With the smaller depot and the slim build it is a bowl for compact setups. If you have a smaller hookah or you smoke alone, the size works well. On a large hookah with several hoses you will want to top up at 14 to 18 g.
The phunnel build keeps the molasses in the depot instead of letting it into the stem. That cuts down the residue you would otherwise clean out after the session.
Tip: at a 6.0 cm depot diameter you have less area than on a 6.5 or 7 cm bowl. So spread the hookah tobacco deliberately thin instead of heaping it in the middle.
The glaze
The Havlit glaze gives an expressive play of colour and makes every bowl look slightly different. Because production is by hand, colour and surface differ slightly from piece to piece.
Which attachment fits?
Any common smokebox. At a 7.0 cm outer diameter, watch that the box does not overhang the rim too far so it sits stably. Aluminium foil works too.
Please note: because they are handmade, shape, glaze and pattern can differ slightly from the product photo. Bleeding cannot be entirely prevented on clay bowls and is not grounds for a complaint.
