Kalifa Bowl: a big depot, handmade in Germany
Kalifa carries one line, the Bowl Phunnel, and what stands out about it is the size. An 18 to 25 gram depot is the top end among the hookah bowls, and at €14.99 this is the cheapest way to get there.
Production is in Germany, by hand and from black stoneware clay. The material is resilient, stores heat well and passes it evenly to the tobacco.

Why wide and flat makes a difference
A 7.0 cm depot diameter against a 7.5 cm outer diameter means almost the entire surface of the bowl is depot. The depth is only around 1.1 cm. So you get a large, thin area of tobacco rather than a deep bed.
That has two consequences for you. First, the heat spreads evenly, because there is no thick layer anywhere. Second, the 25 grams only go in if you build outwards. Heap the hookah tobacco in the middle and you hit the smokebox above before the depot is full.
Tip: start at 18 g and work your way up. Using a 25 g depot fully takes practice, and at 18 g the bowl already runs well over an hour.
Material and production
The black stoneware clay is the reason for the sturdiness. It is known for high resilience and long life, stores heat and passes it on evenly. The glazed surface makes cleaning easier, because less molasses sticks to it.
Because every bowl is made by hand, each piece is one of a kind. Colour and glaze differ slightly from one to the next.

Which attachment fits?
At a 7.5 cm outer diameter with a 7.0 cm depot, only a narrow rim stays free on the outside. So make sure your aluminium smokebox or stainless steel model sits stably and the slots are over the depot. Aluminium foil is a good alternative with a depot this size, because it covers the whole area.
Please note: because they are handmade, shape, glaze and colour gradient can differ slightly from the product photo. Bleeding cannot be entirely prevented on clay bowls and is not grounds for a complaint.
