Kolos Tang: artist bowls from €7.99
Kolos Tang is the cheapest bowl brand in the range. The unglazed variants cost €7.99, the glazed ones €9.99, and they are still handmade hookah bowls from Russia rather than pressed goods.
The design comes from the artist Kolos Tang, whose bowls are known for their shaping. We carry two lines, Grown and Romerika, both phunnels with a 15 to 18 g depot.
- Handmade phunnel from Russia, designed by Kolos Tang
- Depot of 15 to 18 g, which means sessions of around 60 to 90 minutes
- Height approx. 11 cm, outer diameter approx. 7.5 cm, depot diameter approx. 6.5 cm
- Two lines: Grown and Romerika
- Unglazed from €7.99, glazed from €9.99
Glazed or unglazed?
Both lines come in an unglazed variant and in glazed versions. The difference is two euros and two practical points.
The glazed surface is easier to clean, because less molasses sticks to it, and it protects the clay better against molasses soaking in. The unglazed variant looks more natural and brings out the craft character of the material. If you are unsure, take the glazed one and you will have less work after the session.
Tip: at €7.99 a bowl it is worth taking two or three and using one for strong blends and one for fruity ones. Then the flavour of one hookah tobacco does not carry over into the next.
Which lines and variants are there?
Grown
The larger of the two lines. Available in the glazes 104, 106, 107, 108 and 112, plus the unglazed variant.
Romerika
Available in the glazes 108 and 130, plus unglazed as well.
The numbers identify the individual glaze. Depot, shape and measurements are the same across all variants, so the choice is purely cosmetic.
Material and production
Production is in Russia from quality clay, by hand. The material stores heat well and passes it evenly to the tobacco. Because every bowl is made individually, shape and surface differ slightly from one to the next.
Which attachment fits?
With a 6.5 cm depot and a 7.5 cm outer diameter, a clean rim stays free for any common smokebox. Aluminium foil works too.
Please note: because they are handmade, shape and surface can differ slightly from the product photo. On the unglazed variants in particular, bleeding can occur, meaning molasses comes out through fine micro-cracks. It has no effect on function and is not grounds for a complaint.
