Vandenberg V1: the bestseller made in Germany
The V1 is Vandenberg's best selling phunnel and has been available in Germany since 2021.
The producer is no newcomer to the scene: the tobacco brands Babos, XRacher, Kismet and Odinson come out of the same house. You can tell that experience from the hookah bowl.

What makes the V1 special
It is made in a high-temperature process from high grade clay. You notice that the first time you pick it up: it is noticeably heavier and more solid than most other bowls.
The process makes the clay very dense, and the glaze seals it on top of that. Which is why the V1 practically does not bleed.
Good to know: bleeding means molasses from the tobacco gets into the pores of the clay in the depot, travels further through it and eventually comes out on the outside of the bowl.
Then there is the packaging: the V1 ships in a wooden box with a certificate of authenticity, which is the case with hardly any other bowl.
Glazes with different effects
According to the manufacturer, matte and glossy glazes behave differently when you smoke. Matte versions such as Gold Antik or Sahara are said to hold the heat longer and pass less of it to the hookah tobacco, which makes the session run a little longer. Glossy ones like Mitternachtsblau or Grau Glänzend are said to give off more heat and produce denser smoke.
In our experience the differences really are small. Just decide by which colour you like and what suits your setup.
How to pack the V1
Basically like any phunnel, with one thing to watch. The tobacco goes around the hole in the middle as usual, and then you leave a small gap towards the outer edge of the bowl. The video shows it well:
