Maduro is not your usual hookah tobacco. Instead of bright Virginia tobacco or a classic dark blend, Maduro is built on real fermented cigar tobacco leaves from Cuba (Havana) and Nicaragua, two of the most renowned regions for premium cigars worldwide. It's manufactured in Turkey, but using Russian production methods.

Since 2026, Maduro has held official German excise approval and is therefore available on the German market. Compared to conventional hookah tobacco, it uses noticeably less molasses. Production: Why Is Maduro So Elaborate?

Maduro is one of the most elaborately produced hookah tobaccos on the market. A lot of material is already lost while preparing the cigar tobacco leaves: coarse leaf sections are removed and the leaves are separated by hand. In the end, only around 60% of the original tobacco material is actually processed further.

After fermentation, the tobacco is shredded, dried, and additionally smoked. This smoking process gives Maduro its characteristic, lightly smoky cigar note. Only then is the tobacco prepared for hookah use and blended with a comparatively small amount of molasses. The 50g and 100g glass jars protect the aroma even further.

Two Product Lines: Perfume and Flavored

Maduro offers two different product lines. The Perfume Line consists of flavours inspired by well-known fragrances: cigar tobacco meets complex, multilayered aromas with top notes, heart notes, and base notes, much like a premium perfume.

Heat Management: Aluminum HMD Instead Of Stainless Steel

For Maduro, we explicitly recommend an aluminum HMD rather than a stainless steel HMD. Maduro requires less heat than many classic dark blend tobaccos. Stainless steel HMDs retain and transfer a lot of heat, which can burn the tobacco faster. With an aluminum HMD and two to three coconut charcoals, Maduro runs stable and its flavours develop nicely. It's important to rotate or replace the charcoals in time so the heat stays constant.

Maduro In The XKAH

Maduro performs really well in the XKAH. At around 240 to 250°C, the tobacco stays stable and the natural cigar aromas come through especially well.

Maduro As A Mixing Tobacco
