Sebero tobacco is extremely popular in its home country, Russia, and by now it's a regular fixture on our shelves too. The range is broad, offering classics like grape as well as more adventurous flavours like pear and guava.
On the German market, there are two versions of the brand: Sebero Classic and Sebero Black. Both are based on Burley tobacco, but they differ a lot in strength and character.
Sebero Classic or Sebero Black: what's the difference?
Sebero Classic is made from multiple-washed Burley tobacco, which makes it very mild. While smoking you will barely notice a difference to Virginia tobacco, which is why our dark blend guide lists Sebero Classic as super light. On top of that it's heat-resistant and forgiving with heat management, which makes it a solid entry point for Burley beginners. You can recognise the Classic edition by its white packaging and the light colour of the tobacco.
Sebero Black is very different from the Classic version. The blend contains a high proportion of cigar leaves, which makes it particularly strong. The fine cut and high moisture content need a lot of heat right from the start. If the tobacco isn't hot enough, you'll feel a noticeable harshness when smoking. Once it reaches the right temperature though, it runs really smooth. Sebero Black compares best to Must H, which offers a similar smoking experience.
Sebero tobacco: what makes it so special?
Sebero is popular because its flavours are particularly intense and aromatic. Thanks to the special processing, such as washing or adding cigar tobacco, the Burley base absorbs a lot of flavour. That results in an intense, long-lasting taste, especially with Sebero Classic, which stays mild despite its Burley base.
If you've only smoked Virginia tobacco so far, Sebero is a good way to get to know the characteristics of a dark blend tobacco without risking an immediate nicotine shock.
