What does the 187 Strassenbande Dark 040 Hamburg tobacco taste like?

187 Strassenbande Dark 040 Hamburg is a berry mix of currant, raspberry and blackberry. The taste is sweet with a slightly tart edge from the currant, while the blackberry brings the dark depth. You know something similar from the classic 040 Hamburg, but here the burley blend puts a spicy tobacco note behind the berries.

How strong is 187 Strassenbande Dark 040 Hamburg?

Unlike the familiar 187 flavors, the Dark line is not built on Virginia but on a burley blend, joined as usual for dark blends by shares of darker tobaccos such as dark air cured and oriental. You will also find the line sold as 187 Darkblend. The manufacturer puts the strength at 2 to 5 percent, the order of magnitude of raw burley tobacco, while repeatedly washed Virginia tobacco sits at around 0.05 percent. We smoked it in our office and rated the experience, for us, on a level with AINO Dark, which lands it in the medium range of our dark blend guide. So it is not the tobacco for your very first bowl, but it smokes fine on its own once you know your way around dark blend. Production takes place in Germany.
