What does the 187 Strassenbande Dark G tobacco taste like?

187 Strassenbande Dark G tastes of dark grape. The grape is sweet and clearly deeper than in the light Virginia varieties, closer to dark table grapes than to grape juice. Since the base is a burley blend, there is a spicy tobacco note behind the fruit that you will not find in the classic 187 flavors.

How strong is 187 Strassenbande Dark G?

The Dark line from 187 Strassenbande is not based on Virginia but on a burley blend, joined as usual for dark blends by shares of darker tobaccos such as dark air cured and oriental. In the trade the line also goes by the name 187 Darkblend. The manufacturer states a strength of 2 to 5 percent, the order of magnitude of raw burley tobacco, while repeatedly washed Virginia tobacco sits at around 0.05 percent. In our office test the smoking experience was, to us, on roughly the same level as AINO Dark, which puts Dark G in the medium strength range of our dark blend guide. That makes it a poor choice for beginners, but if you already have some experience with dark blend you can smoke it neat without any trouble. Like the other 187 Strassenbande varieties, it is produced in Germany.

There are currently only two varieties of the Dark line on the market. Besides Dark G, that is 187 Strassenbande Dark 040 Hamburg with a mix of currant, raspberry and blackberry. If you prefer something lighter, we stock plenty of good 187 Strassenbande varieties on a Virginia base, for example AMG with grape and mint, 040 Hamburg with a berry mix or New Flash with cola, lime and dragon fruit.
